How it all started...
It all began last summer. Erpenbeck had committed to bringing its STEAM lab up to, well, full steam, and it was time to define its vision as it was now going to reach every child on a regular basis. As every STEAM lab seems either a little or lot different from the next, we sought a unifying concept for our vision of engaging every student in meaningful Science and Engineering that made effective use of Technology and Math. That is where the Art comes in. We weren't a STEM lab. We were a STEAM lab. We wanted to tap into the resourcefulness and creativity our students possess. The Art component refers to all of the Arts, written, visual, musical and necessarily includes the creativity and innovative thinking that children naturally excel at. The other thing students know about is their community. Our students know about their school, their homes, the business their parents work at, and helping others. They also are expected to learn the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math that is needed to build and create a great community. Bring all this together and the students and teachers have embraced the question of what it takes to build a thriving community with creativity and innovation. Tomorrowland is the result of their efforts to engineer and create a model community worth sharing with the world. Follow us on Facebook Tomorrowland EES and Twitter @TomorrowlandEES
